The Nepal earthquake was a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that destroyed 90% of the homes in Nepal. The earthquake happened because of 2 tectonic plates crashing into each other which shook Nepal, those exact same tectonic plates created the Himalayan mountains. The earthquake caused an avalanche on Mt. Everest which caused it to shrink, and it elevated the Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. A Seismologist from Cambridge University says,"It was a nightmare what happened."
This earthquake has caused 8 million to be affected, either being homeless, shelterless, without food or water or even dead. The earthquake was deadly, about 90% of the homes were destroyed due to this high ranking 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Not only are 8 million affected but about 1.4 million are in the need of food.
